First-Year Applicants

All Tennessee high school students who graduate from accredited/state-approved high schools and meet the below criteria are guaranteed admission to UT Martin.

• First-year students who are ranked in the top 10% of their class.
• First-year students applying for admission to UT Martin can meet one of the following high school GPA and ACT/SAT combinations:
  • 3.0 high school GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and a minimum 19 ACT score/900 SAT score or
  • 2.7 high school GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and a minimum 21 ACT score/980 SAT score
• First-year students must meet unit requirements with completed high school courses. See courses below for details.
• All ACT and SAT scores are super-scored when multiple tests are submitted. All applicants are required to submit ACT/SAT scores, regardless of class rank or GPA.
• Any student’s file not meeting guaranteed admission requirements will be reviewed for conditional admission.

• 21 ACT or 980 SAT and a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.85 or above on a 4.0 scale

• English: 4 units
• Algebra: 2 units
• Advanced Math: 2 unit of geometry, trigonometry, calculus or advanced mathematics
• U.S. History: 1 unit
• Social Studies: 1 unit of world history, European history, or world geography (may be fulfilled by completing 2 one-half unit courses)
• Science: 3 units, including biology, chemistry or physics, and a third lab course
• Foreign Language: 2 units in the same language
• Visual/Performing Arts: 1 unit of theater arts, visual arts, music theory, music history, vocal music, instrumental music or art history

Students eligible for admission as non-traditional first-year students graduated from high school three or more years ago and have attempted fewer than 12 semester hours of college-level coursework.

• 2.85 cumulative high school GPA or 19 ACT/900 SAT

A Transient Student is a student from another college or university who would like to attend UT Martin for one semester only.

Admission Requirements

• Must meet admissions standards for transfer students
• Only be enrolling in UT Martin for one semester
• Must submit a statement of good academic standing from former institution

Admission Requirements

The first step is to complete an admissions application at www.utm.edu/admissions-and-aid/apply. If you did not receive your bachelor's degree from UT Martin, you will need to submit a copy of your official college transcript to the Office of Admissions.

A post baccalaureate student cannot receive Financial Aid. If financial aid is required, students who graduated from UT Martin should apply as a returning student with a different major. If the student graduated from another university or college, he/she should apply as a transfer student in order to receive financial aid. If applying as a transfer student, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will need the student’s high school transcript along with transcripts from all other colleges and universities attended.
