The University of Tennessee at Martin, in cooperation with McNairy County and the City of Selmer, established a center, The UT Martin McNairy County Center/Selmer in 1998.
The center offers a full rotation plan of general education courses in addition to many upper level courses and the 4 year Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) degree. In the fall of 2004, the center started offering courses leading to the Education K-6 degree. Beginning the fall of 2008, the center offered courses leading to the History and Social Work degrees. Fall 2009 marked the completion of the expansion building housing four additional classrooms.
The center also offers non-credit classes during the year and can design training curriculums to meet the individual needs of local business and industry.
