Be the Solution to Real-World Problems

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at UT Martin is designed to prepare students for mathematical careers in business, government, education, and industry. Our program enables students to examine the principal concepts of mathematics and statistics and utilize them effectively in practical applications. The program incorporates modeling, real-world data, classical and contemporary methods, and modern technology to provide an authentic learning experience.

Program Outcomes

Department Scholarships

Dr. Desiree McCullough Memorial Scholarship

The Dr. Desiree McCullough Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior. The student selected will be a mathematics major with preference to one with either a statistics or actuarial science concentration.

Harbison-Gathers Excellence in Education Scholarship

The Harbison-Gathers Excellence in Education Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior pursuing a teaching career in math, computer science, chemistry or physics. Must have a 3.2 GPA and financial need should be considered.

The Louise Knifley Memorial Scholarship

The Louise Knifley Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior Mathematics major or a Secondary Education Mathematics major with a 3.50 GPA in Mathematics and a 3.00 or above overall GPA.

Facilities

In operation since 1970, our Mathematics Learning Center offers free tutoring for all mathematics courses as well as self-paced courses with lectures and testing options.
