Wireless Certificate Update: eduroam

The certificate used for the SkyNet and eduroam Wi-Fi networks will be updated on Monday, October 9, at 7:30 a.m. You will be prompted to trust the new certificate before you are connected to the Wi-Fi.

Note that eduroam is the preferred Wi-Fi network for access on campus for faculty, staff, and students. If you are still using SkyNet, now is a great time to switch. With eduroam, you can automatically connect and get internet access at over 1000 campuses in the US and even more around the world without any other configuration. Knowledge Base articles are available for connecting with most devices. If you have any questions or problems, please put in a service request or contact the Help Desk at 731-881-7900.

ITS Customer Satisfaction Survey

The bi-annual ITS Customer Satisfaction Survey will be sent to the campus community on Monday, October 16, 2023. We want to hear from you! Please share your thoughts on the campus technology services available to help us improve our services for UT Martin. Your responses are anonymous by default and will only be displayed in collective results. Cookie settings are used through Qualtrics to save your progress, but our reports do not collect this information. This semester, we are offering users the opportunity to provide optional contact information to discuss feedback and resolve any issues that may be mentioned. Please complete the survey by Friday, October 27, 2023. Upon completing the survey, you will be given the chance to enter a drawing for a 100 dollar gift card. There is no purchase or fee required to participate in the drawing. If you have any questions about the survey, please contact the ITS Computer Help Desk at 731-881-7900 or helpdesk@utm.edu.

Self-Help Articles in TeamDynamix

Our ticketing system, TeamDynamix, allows our campus to utilize self-help or knowledge-base articles for multiple platforms offered through IT Services. The Knowledge Base is a collection of articles intended to provide information, self-service troubleshooting help, and documentation for IT-supported platforms on our campus. We encourage the campus to look through or search our knowledge base for any quick guides. Each article has a feedback section at the bottom, asking if the article is helpful. You can choose `Yes' or `No' and provide comments. This can be very helpful in keeping the Knowledge Base up to date and helping knowledge owners understand articles' performance. Feel free to utilize these articles as needed and share them with others within the campus community.

Microsoft Teams Chat: Tips to Organize Conversations

The Chat feature on Microsoft Teams is a great way to communicate with individuals or with different groups of people. Assigning a name to your group chat (3 people+) can help users organize and access specific groups quickly. Your Chat name might be descriptive by project, task, or department. To assign a name to a Group Chat, find your Group Chat on the left side of your Teams screen > open the Chat > look at the tool bar at the top of the page > click the pencil icon > enter the name of the Group Chat. The new name will be visible to everyone in the conversation.

If you have an ongoing Chat, you can pin it to appear at the top of your most recent chats for quick access. To pin a Chat, look down the left side of your Chat view > find the chat you want to pin > hover your cursor over the ellipses beside the chat > click the thumbtack icon. You can pin up to 15 chats. For more about Teams Chat, visit Office365 Support.
