The departments under the Dean of Students Office support students by offering services and programming in the following focus areas.

Student Success 

Student success means achieving academic excellence, personal growth, and goal attainment. This is done through engagement in academic resources, adherence to academic standards, and involvement in co-curricular activities. 

Goals

  1. Increase student engagement in co-curricular activities.
  2. Create partnerships with academic areas to support academic success. 
  3. Create programs that promote a sense of belonging, opportunities for socialization, and community development.
  4. Create programs to support the success of underrepresented students.

Well-Being

Well-being is seen as multi-faceted, covering physical, emotional, social, and mental health. By offering support services, educational programs, and campus engagement, students will have the opportunity to develop community, belonging, and overall well-being. 

Goals

  1. Development of programming that supports mental health, reduction of substance abuse, physical health, self-care, and positive relationships.
  2. Prioritize well-being of students through development of programming with campus partners (SHCS, Healthy Hawks, Campus Recreation).
  3. Development of programming that provides entertainment/recreation/socialization for students.
  4. Manage process of reporting students of concern and connection to campus and community resources.
  5. Restorative approach to student conduct issues.

Student development is seen as a journey of growth and transformation. Our goal is to provide intentional engagement, personalized support, hands-on learning, and cultural exploration to allow students to broaden interests, perspectives, and viewpoints while preparing them to succeed throughout their collegiate career and soar post-graduation.
